What began as a simple idea on the blog of Tanja Steinbach - one of Germany’s most prominent knitwear designers, TV craft experts (frequently featured on ARD), and author - has grown into a cherished tradition and a highlight of the international knitting calendar. Socktober brings people together, fosters connections, and fuels creativity. Year after year, knitters create beautiful pieces for themselves, their loved ones, and charitable causes such as the "Grüne Socke" (Green Sock) initiative - a movement where hand-knitted green socks are gifted to patients with gynecological cancers as a sign of hope, warmth, and solidarity.
This anniversary release features a collection of all Socktober designs from the past decade. With this special edition, Tanja Steinbach aims to inspire and share joy across the global crafting community.
Giving back remains at the heart of the project: 50 cents from every pattern booklet sold are donated to Gynäkologische Krebserkrankungen Deutschland e. V. (German Gynecological Cancer Association). You can also support the cause through the featured yarns - an additional 50 cents will be donated for every ball of Meilenweit sock yarn sold in the showcased anniversary colorways.
